ZL Wavetable Editor

ZL Wavetable Editor is a powerful VST-style editor window to help you get the most out of Wavetable, as fast as possible.

If you're like me, you already own Live Studio and you love the sound of Wavetable, but find its UI cramped and fussy to work with (especially the Mod Matrix!).  I figured this great-sounding and flexible synth would benefit from a more traditional plugin-style UI, so I took a crack at it!

So now for about the price of some typical Plug-In skins you can get a powerful new "skin" packed with extra features (randomize/copy/paste/save/load component presets) and a much faster workflow.

Quick Action controls appear over each component when hovering with the mouse.

Example column (mod target) group selection. All bulk editing commands have dedicated buttons with self-documenting keyboard shortcuts.

(1) Edits to the mod matrix from the Wavetable device view itself will not immediately be reflected the editor window due to Live API limitations.  They will appear the next time this device pairs, or by manually clicking the "Refresh Matrix" button.

(2) Some dB values display very small differences in the editor window vs. Wavetable due to different implementations of native dB gain curves in Live and Max.

Window layouts suitable to different screen resolutions. Version 1.1.0 adds support for Zoom/Resizing the window, too.

Installation

1. Unzip the ZL Wavetable Editor.zip file.
2. Move the entire folder "ZL Wavetable Editor" into your User Library.

Usage

1. Drop ZL Wavetable Editor (Max Audio Effect) anywhere in your Live set.
2. Optionally assign a keyboard shortcut to the big button. (I use ⌥ P).
3. Select any track with a Wavetable device.
4. Every control has "Info View" text describing its function.

FWIW there was an ungodly amount of plumbing and custom UI/UX code written to make this device possible, fast, and efficient. I believe it's possible to get more modern/advanced UX into M4L devices, but it takes loads of specially-written code and debugging and that always carries some risk of bugs. If you want to support a fledgling developer who is committed to pushing the ceiling of M4L user experience and quality higher, please consider paying a bit extra for this device or buying other Zoftloud devices.
